Dress Code
The purpose of the uniform dress code is to clarify a standard of appearance that reflects biblical principles of modesty, appropriateness, and stewardship which will encourage students to bring glory to God (I Corinthians 10:31). There are several other important reasons why a uniform is required at CLA:
- To dispense with competition due to outward appearance and affluence
- To de-emphasize outward appearance and stress, in its place, inward character development
- To limit the distractions and to focus on learning
- To enhance school spirit
The following items are permissible attire for school:
Tops: Solid white, navy, gray polo shirt or any t-shirt that contains the CLA logo. May be long or short sleeve.
Jackets: Jackets must be solid color khaki, navy/royal blue, gray, or white. Jackets with logos (other than CLA school logo), designs, sayings are not permitted.
Bottoms: Khaki, gray, or navy pants, shorts, skirts, skorts, polo dresses, and jumpers.
ALL shorts, skirts, skorts, dresses and jumpers MUST be fingertip length. If a student comes to school in bottoms that are shorter than fingertip length, the office will contact the parent or guardian and request that proper bottoms be brought to school.
Any student who wears a dress or jumper to school must wear shorts or leggings underneath.
Leggings: Leggings are only permitted to be worn underneath a dress, shorts, or jumper and must adhere to school colors as listed above (khaki, navy blue, gray, or white).
Footwear: Students must wear socks and tennis shoes to school each day.
Piercings: Facial piercings other than on the ears are not permitted.
Hair: If students choose to dye their hair, the dye must be a natural color only (blonde, brunette, auburn). Extensions must also adhere to the natural color policy.
